Here are some things coming up in the Jeremiah Community and at ‘river’. Most of these events have been added to the calendar.

* ‘river’ ::: this week our worshipping community moves into a new theme which will take us through the next 4 weeks: One Love! A Message of Unity and Grace for any Community that Calls Itself ‘Church’. Together we’ll delve into the letter of Corinthians and begin to ask ourselves how we might live out our giftedness with a deep unity – even in our beautiful diversity. Over the 4 weeks, 4 different community members will break open the sacred texts, with a time for us to all respond. Lance gets us rolling this week.
* Bring a canned good to ‘river’! We ask folks who are able to bring a canned good for the daily Bread Food Bank this Sunday January 16th. We’ll also be taking up a special offering for relief in Haiti. The Jeremiah Community has already raised $200 for Haitian relief from last week’s Urban Flute Concert and we hope to raise more.
* Redemptive Journey Formation Groups (walking through Galatians and the Sermon on the Mount) - will happen on Tues. and Thurs. evenings (choose either one) starting Jan. 19th/Jan. 21st. For more details, look here. Time and locations TBA (after dinner each of those evenings – likely 7:30pm). Lance will be leading these groups.
* Lent Planning brainstorm for ‘river’ – Next Sun. Jan. 24th after river (6-7pm) – pizza provided!
* Street Crawl – The Dundas West Community is having a Street Crawl on Sat. Jan. 30th from 4-9pm. Jeremiah Community folks are invited to attend!
* Film Showing & Discussion Nights – Fri. Jan. 22nd & Fri. Feb. 19th @ 7:30pm in the Skey Room.
* Pie Auction - to support folks going to New Orleans – Sun. Jan. 31st after ‘river’ (details TBA)
* Next Jeremiah Community Breakfast Meeting – Sat. Feb. 6th @ 9:30am. Alex has offered to help with food. Other helpers are welcomed!
* Eco-Sabbath PIlgrimage – Sun. Feb. 7th in the AM @ St Gabriel’s green (Catholic) Church- talk to Alex for details about travel together.
* Bishop’s Visit: +Bishop Philip Poole will be presiding at Holy Communion at ’river’ on Feb. 7th @4pm.
* Last Call At The Gladstone Hotel Documentary + Discussion on Gentrification and neighbourhood changes. One of the film’s director’s will be present. Fri. Feb 12th @ 7:30pm. Skey Room.
* Mardi Gras Potluck – Tues. Feb. 16th – time and location TBA (Thursday formation cancelled that week – and no post-river gathering either on the 14th)
* ‘river’ Ash Wednesday Service – evening of Wed. Feb. 17th – time and location TBA
* Urban Flute Ensemble (Chamber Music and Improv) - benefit concert for our ‘abbey’ restoration (St. Anne’s) – Wed. Feb. 24th – 7:30pm
* Monthly giving by Direct Withdrawl from your bank or credit union – Several people have asked about giving by direct withdrawl from their bank/credit union account. If you’re interested email us for the form (they are also available at ‘river’).
* Community Arts Space – Building on our Guerilla-12 connections, and the many artists in our community, we may be launching a community arts studio space in the coming month or 2. Stay tuned for details, or talk to Christina or Rob…
